Frequently Asked Questions
How old does my dog need to be?
We recommend that most breeds are over one year old (1.5yrs if they are a large or giant breed). This is to ensure they have fully developed their bones & joints. If you would like to go on our waiting list for our new intake, don't hesitate to contact us.
Can any breed have a go at agility?
Absolutely – dogs of all shapes and sizes can make really successful agility dogs. Dog agility is an activity that can be done by anyone at any age, so why not contact us and give it a go!
What should I bring with me?
As our dog agility training is positive reward based we use lots of treats and toys to reward our dogs. You should try and use high value rewards; such as chicken, sausages & cheese, or their favourite toy. It is also helpful to have a food treat bag – many people bring drawstring bags/pouches that hang from your waist or belt.
What should my dog wear?
Your dog needs to be wearing a flat collar and be on lead until training commences. Your dog can wear a harness if you wish.
Please avoid bringing your dog on an extendable lead.
What does my dog need to learn before starting?
Your dog must have a good wait & recall commands. These are a very important skills when starting out in agility. You can practise both of these commands from when your puppy is young.
